MIDDLETOWN, DELAWARE, July 11, 2023 — The Recreational Operations Board of the Delaware Union Soccer Club is pleased to announce the promotion of Shane Engrem to the position of Recreational (REC) Soccer Director, effective immediately. Shane brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a REC coach for the club since 2018, as well as holding coaching positions at various schools and soccer clubs. Shane brings exorbitant Passion, vast knowledge and love for the game, technical expertise, team development, transformational goals, and solid core values – respect, integrity, and accountability. He is a collaborator and will bring a lot to encouraging, corralling, and engaging the parents and REC coaches. Shane loves helping others and is an extremely humble man. Some of his other strengths are soccer acumen, agility, adaptive learning, direct leadership style and a track record of success.

"His dedication and passion for the sport, as well as his commitment and experience in developing young players, will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen our club."

Qualifications & Experience

Shane’s qualifications include:

Graduate of Delaware Technical Community College
Played soccer for 20+ years on various teams including:

Glasgow High School (won Flight A multiple times)
Delaware Technical College

USSF National “D” License and Grassroots Referee from Delaware State Referee Committee
Active soccer coaching at various levels of the game including:

Serving as girls soccer coach for Delaware Soccer Union Club since 2018.
Serving as an assistant soccer coach at Glasgow High School.
Coaching and supporting a summer league for Middletown High School, at the Chase Field House in Wilmington, Delaware
Coached and trained winning teams for multiple 3v3 REC Tournaments including the most recent Spring 2023 Tournament

Throughout his career, Shane has shown a commitment to developing young players and building strong relationships with families. Shane's experience and qualifications make him the ideal candidate for the position of REC Operations Director, where he will be responsible for overseeing the development of young players and ensuring that they receive the highest level of coaching and support.
